Kenwith Castle Model Boat Club
Open Day 23rd June 2019
After much anticipation and weeks of backroom organisation, the open day finally arrived. The weather forecast was a typical English summer’s day – dull with rain showers most of the day! Luckily, this did not put off the model boating community, who turned up in force to support us on our day. All those who promised to come arrived, and by 10.30 am we had approximately 60 people on site. With them came nearly 100 boats and a great days sailing followed until that rain finally arrived around 2pm. A special thank you to all the clubs who supported us, including City of Plymouth MBC, Exeter & District MBC, City of Truro Mariners MBC, Clevedon & District MBC, Woodspring Model Sailing Club, Ilfracombe & District MBC and our own members from Kenwith Castle MBC. Also, many thanks to member Nicole Sell and her team of helpers for providing tea, coffe and a free lunch for us all and for running the tombola during the day which helped offset some of our costs. Any profits will be donated the the RNLI. Finally, we greatly appreciate the support of Kenwith Castle Care Home who allowed us to use their superb venue for the day.
